Our Southwest Florida Figure Skating Club and the Ellenton Ice and Sports
Complex will be represented at the 2010 Winter Olympics by TWO pair
teams. This is just unheard of, and we are on the map!!! Congratulations
to Mark and Amanda and Caydee and Jeremy along with their coaches Jim,
Alison and Lyndon!
Attached is my tentative lesson schedule for
the coming week. Please check out your lesson time(s) and let me know if
you need to change, add or delete.
Upcoming stuff for this week:
Extra Public Session: A 2:00 - 4:00 public session
is added for Monday, January 18 due to the MLK Holiday.
Tropical Spice: we WILL HAVE team practice tomorrow
from 12:30 - 2:00 PM. Other adults may also use this ice time as an
adult freestyle. All skaters must turn in a freestyle ice ticket or
pay the $14 walk-on fee. For Statewide Championships in Maitland (RDV),
our team will be entering Production (Fountain of Youth),
Pattern Skate (Olympic Fanfare), and Synchro Dance (Asian
Fusion). Cost is $10 per skater per event. Please make
checks payable to TSI and give to Mariann Baur. Team coaching/judging
fee will be $25 per skater. This fee can be included in your entry
check to TSI.
Spanish Spice: We will plan to enter Spanish Spice
for the Statewide Championships in Maitland February 20, 2010.
Practice time will be on Thursdays from 11:15 to 12:00 on public
session ice. Entry fee for this event is $10 per skater. Please make
checks payable to TSI and give to Mariann Baur or Sally. Thursday
practice coaching fee will be $5 per skater paid directly to Kelly.
If you have a Spanish outfit, please bring it to the
rink Thursday or let me know, so I can make sure we have enough.
2010 Upcoming Competition Info:
US National Championships: Check your local
schedules, but I think NBC will air skating again on Sunday, January
24 at 4:00 PM and 9:00 PM.
2010 Olympics: February 14 - 27, 2010 will be held
in Vancouver, Canada. Featuring our Olympian pair skaters!!!
ISI District 18 Championships: February 19 - 21,
2010 will be hosted by the RDV Sportsplex in Maitland (just east of
Orlando). This will be a state-wide competition featuring many events
for all ages and skill levels. The signup and testing
deadline is January 25, 2010. I have entry forms and information. I
plan to go. Please turn in your forms to me no later than Friday,
January 22.
USFS Eastern Adult Sectionals: Also February 19 -
21, 2010 hosted by Central Carolina Skating Club at Triangle
Sportsplex in Hillsborough, NC. Deadline to enter is 11:59 PM January
2, 2010. I will not be going.
South Florida USFS Challenge: March 5 - 7, 2010 will
be hosted by the Panthers Figure Skating Club at Incredible Ice in
Coral Springs, FL. Entry deadline is postmark midnight February 15,
2010.
USFS Midwestern Adult Sectionals: March 12 - 14,
2010 hosted by Indiana/World Skating Academy FSC at the Indiana/World
Skating Academy. Deadline to enter is 11:59 PM January 2, 2010. I
plan to go.
World Figure Skating Championships: March 22 - 28,
2010 will be held in Turin, Italy.
Florida Open USFS Competition:
March 26 - 28, 2010. This is a new date than previously
listed. Hosted by Central Florida FSC at RDV Sportsplex in Maitland,
FL. I plan to go. I now have forms for this.
USFS Adult National Championships: April 13 - 17,
2010 hosted by Twin City Figure Skating Association at the Bloomington
Ice Garden, Bloomington, Minnesota. Deadline to enter is 11:59 PM
January 15, 2010. I will be going with THREE of our adult
skaters!!
Liberty Open USFS Competition: Aston (Phily), PA.
July 13 - 16, 2010.
